Explorers in Learning opened July 14th, 2003. The Northeast Phoenix facility located at 4723 E. Union Hills Drive is the only one in Arizona, however four sister schools exist in the Suburban, IL area. The 10,600 square-foot building features a secure pass point key system, outdoor playground with a separate area for toddlers, a beautiful sun-lit atrium, indoor playground, nutritious menu that is catered daily, and lower child to teacher ratios than required by the State of Arizona. We provide curriculum-based learning programs for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age.
Explorers in Learning is a family-owned business and was started when the owners could not find child-care they considered to be of high quality for their own children. The owners take great pride in the center and know that your children’s education and safety is of the highest importance. With only one center, the owners can really focus on the needs of the facility, the staff and the children. With that, Explorers In Learning experiences less teacher, staff and family turnover than most corporate owned preschools. This also allows them to implement policies that are in the best interest of our families, without all the red tape (such as random drug testing of teachers).
The owners also own The Learning Journey, an educational toy company. Many of these toys can be found throughout our center and in our classrooms. The corporate office is located just minutes away from Explorers in Learning and therefore the owners are just a few miles away. Their entire careers have been focused on the education of young children.
Our mission is to help the children learn and grow in a positive atmosphere. Our philosophy is that every child is a unique individual and should be treated as such. We are committed to providing an encouraging educational environment that will stimulate and develop each child’s social, emotional, intellectual and physical being.
It is important to us that your children feel safe and secure so they can learn and have fun. Education begins at birth and the infant to pre-school years are some of the most critical as it relates to brain development, social skills and growth. Therefore, we develop healthy partnerships with parents and have the highest regard for the trust you place in us.
We are licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services through the Office of Child Care Licensure. The Health, Fire and Licensing officers from the State of Arizona, Maricopa County and the City of Phoenix routinely inspect the center. Inspection reports are available upon request from Explorers in Learning and from The Arizona Department of Health Services. We maintain insurance coverage required by the Arizona Department of Health Services.
