Lead Teacher

Job Description

Qualifications
Arizona Department of Health and Safety requires lead teachers to have completed the following:
H.S. Diploma
At least 6 months experience in a licensed child care facility
Complete at least 18 hours of early childhood training each year
Current Level One Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card
Submit current TB test result

Explorers in Learning (EIL) LEAD teachers are REQUIRED to have:
Two years experience teaching in a preschool setting
College courses in early childhood education or elementary education
Pass a pre-employment drug test as well as random drug tests
Experience writing and implementing lesson plans
Current First Aid and CPR training
Current food handlers card

Accountability
You are directly accountable to your on-site director, as well as to the administration of Explorers in Learning for job performance.

Responsibilities
To plan and implement a sound developmentally appropriate curriculum for the group to which you are assigned by using the curriculum tools provided (Creative Curriculum) as well the guidance of your Directors/Coaches.
To monitor each child’s progress through observation and interaction and to meet individual needs within your program.
To document children’s learning by using anecdotes, photographs, and work samples and incorporating these items into an individual child portfolio.
Communicate with parents (with administration approval when needed) on an individual basis as well as during parent/teacher conferences.
To perform any and all tasks and duties related to the operation of a child care classroom and center. This includes but is not limited to:
To follow all policies and procedures as put forth by EIL (see Employee Handbook)
To have an understanding of pertinent licensing regulations and follow those at all times.
Maintaining classroom cleanliness, i.e.: cleaning and sanitizing toys, shelves, tables and chairs.
Changing wet or dirty diapers, clothing in the manner necessary if applicable
Laying out/picking up cots
Serving and clearing lunch and snacks
Occasional substitution in other classrooms
To attend staff meetings and in-service sessions as scheduled
To accept guidance from on site directors and administration as necessary
Co-operate with fellow teachers and maintain a positive work environment

 


Assistant Teacher

Job Description

Qualifications
EIL requires teacher’s assistants to have the following:
Complete at least 18 hours of training each year
Current Food Handler’s card
Current CPR and First Aid training
Current TB test results
Current Level One Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card
Pass a pre-employment drug test as well as random drug tests
Teachers who are working toward becoming teacher qualified shall provide updated transcripts after each semester of courses completed

Accountability
You are directly accountable to your on-site director, as well as to the administration of Explorers In Learning for job performance.

Responsibilities
To assist the lead teacher in the planning and implementing, under the guidance of the Program Director and Assistant Director, using the tools provided, a sound developmentally appropriate curriculum for the group to which you are assigned.
